Spoiler alert: every single one of them said that their wives take on the majority of the childcare burden, even though many of their wives also work full-time jobs.
Fewer women run for office than men and the moms who run for office frequently wait until their children are grown before running. “Of the more than 20 Democratic candidates running for president in 2020, Vox counted nine men with children below high-school age, and just one woman, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).”
What does this mean? Well, for starters, let’s stop giving women candidates a hard time for using campaign funds for childcare. And then we’ll get to viewing childcare as more than just a women’s problem to solve.
