Federal law as enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) counts discrimination based on nation of origin as one of several kinds of illegal discrimination. In an online resource, it explicitly states that the phrase "go back where you came from" is an example of unlawful behavior.
The President's words are so racist and xenophobic that we literally already have laws against them. Any CEO saying the same would be fired and probably sued. This is not a "point of discussion" where both sides have equal merit, nor political disagreement. This is not a partisan issue.
There has never been a more important time to be noisy, be active and to make trouble against these forces. To quote Rep. John Lewis, "Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way."
Those who align themselves with this president are complicit in this behavior and are on the wrong side of history. We're looking at you, SHRM and Johnny C Taylor Jr.
